| Summary | In 2014, an important work from the holdings of the MASP, the "Virgin and child, St. John the Baptist Child and an Angel" by Renascentist painter Piero Di Cosimo (1462-1522) was restored in the Palazzo Barberini in Rome. The restoration process was for its participation in the first monographic exhibitions dedicated to Piero in in the National Gallery of Art in Washington and the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence in 2015 that led to the creation of a multidisciplinary team. This tondo is his only painting by Piero that belongs to a collection in the Southern Hemisphere. An accurate account of its main subjects (its construction, the making of its preparatory layer, the paints that were used, questions of composition and style, its iconography and its history) is now registered in the texts of this publication |
